Dubai launches AI-powered passenger corridor to clear immigration in seconds

Must Read

Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest hub for international travel, has launched an AI-powered passenger corridor that allows travelers to clear immigration in seconds without presenting documents. Part of the “Travel Without Borders” initiative, the system represents a major leap in smart travel technology, combining speed, security, and convenience.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs  in Dubai, said the corridor enables up to 10 passengers to pass through simultaneously by simply walking along a designated path. Facial recognition and pre-registered biometric data confirm identities in as little as 14 seconds, removing the need for passport counters, smart gates, or physical checks.
Initially rolled out in Terminal 3’s First and Business Class lounges, the system builds on Dubai’s “smart tunnel” introduced in 2020. Artificial intelligence verifies passenger data before they reach checkpoints, while any suspicious cases are flagged for expert review.
Also known as the “Unlimited Smart Travel” initiative, the project aims to eventually phase out traditional passport control altogether. Al Marri said the innovation reinforces Dubai’s vision of a “frictionless, secure travel experience” and sets a new global benchmark, surpassing biometric border systems being adopted elsewhere.
As DXB marks its 11th consecutive year as the world’s busiest international airport, the AI corridor is attracting global attention as a scalable model for future air travel.
