A 62-year-old man was brutally killed by his drunk nephew in Chinibagan under Kailashahar Police Station. The accused fled after the assault as police launched a manhunt. The shocking incident has sparked outrage across Unakoti district.

In a shocking incident that has left residents stunned, a 62-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his nephew under the influence of alcohol at their residence in Chinibagan under Kailashahar Police Station. The victim, identified as Bindu Debbarma, succumbed to his injuries at Unakoti District Hospital in the early hours of Friday.

According to preliminary reports, the incident took place late Thursday night when Bindu Debbarma and his nephew, Sanjib Debbarma, were consuming alcohol together at their home. What reportedly began as a heated verbal exchange soon spiralled into a violent confrontation. Family members alleged that Sanjib, heavily intoxicated, lost control during the argument and launched a brutal assault on his elderly uncle.

Eyewitness accounts and family sources claim that Sanjib punched and kicked Bindu repeatedly, striking him in the chest and face after knocking him to the ground. The elderly man allegedly began bleeding from his nose and mouth before losing consciousness. In a dramatic turn of events, it was Sanjib himself who rushed his uncle to the hospital. However, doctors at Unakoti District Hospital declared Bindu dead shortly after arrival.

Adding to the confusion, Sanjib reportedly informed neighbors that his uncle was “fine,” raising suspicions about his involvement. When police arrived at the hospital following the death report, they found Bindu’s lifeless body and initiated an investigation. By then, the accused had fled the scene and remains absconding.

Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered and a manhunt is underway to trace and arrest the accused. The incident has triggered widespread outrage in the locality, with residents demanding swift justice.
