 A one day Awareness Programme in Drugs, Prevention, Supply Reduction and HIV/AIDS was organised by Jampui Hill ICDS Project and the Department of Social Welfare & Social Education at Vanghmun YMA Hall today

alfaktlinga Hrangchal, Additional Director of the Social Welfare & Social Education inaugurated the event and gave addressed the gathering—a large section of whom were the St Thomas English Medium High School students.

Dr Zairemthiama Pachuau of Hillcrest Medical Center Foundation and Dr Esther Lalneidiki were also present as resource persons and educate the gathering on the topic. Other notable persons present were Lalnunfima, president of Tripura Group YMA, H. Vanlalthlana, Executive Secretary of JSBA and other officers and staff of the organising departments.

After the conclusion of the first session, the team along with the BDO of Jampui Hill RD Block Nabarun Chakraborty, went to Behliangchhip village for closing function of Skill Development Training for Cured Drug Addicts and Carpentry and Barber Kits Distribution programme at Behliangchhip YMA Hall.

Here, another Drug Prevention Awareness, in attendance Jampui Class XII School students, was also held. The programme concluded with the Additional Director and the BDO distributing carpentry kits (20 nos), barber kits (10 nos) and driving licence (10 nos), each worth on average more than Rs 10,000/-, to successfully trained cured drug addicts as rehabilitative measures so that they can continue to sustain their livelihood through their skills and keep themselves engaged to live normal lives.

With holistic approach and collective participation of all stakeholders, the problem of drug addiction can be successfully tackled and wiped out.
