Drugs addition has taken one of the most shocking tolls on Sunday as a 15-year boy, a drugs addict, hacked to death four of his relatives and buried them in a courtyard pit in Kamalpur, Dhalai district.

Supriya Debnath of Durai Shibbari area happened to be a serious drugs user and for some reasons he in a fit of drugs infused fury killed four killed Badal Debnath (70, grandfather), Samita Debnath (32, mother), Suparna Debnath (10, sister) and Rekha Deb (42, relative).

Police said they all were hacked to death.

A police statement said the accused was arrested within a few hours of the incident. According to police, the bodies were buried in a pit near the courtyard of the house. The accused had fled away after commissioning the crime.

“During investigation of the case using scientific and technical aid police detained the accused person within a few hours of the incident for further legal action. Investigation is in progress to unearth the motive of the crime,” police said. 

Superintendent of Police, Dhalai Ramesh Chandra Yadav visited the place of occurrence on Sunday morning. Kamalpur police picked up the minor accused from Halahali petrol pump area..

The incident triggered huge sensation and sent a shock wave in entire Kamalpur.

Though there was increasing trend of drugs use in the state and there were several incidents of theft, mugging, and other similar crimes as the drugs addicts are always in a need of money to buy drugs, this is for the first time such grue some murders were committed in Tripura.
