Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, underscored the state government’s earnest efforts towards the comprehensive development of Janajati people while addressing the inaugural ceremony of “Ter,” the Festival of Unity. The event was organized by the Khumpui Cultural Academy and took place at Swami Vivekananda Maidan on Saturday evening.

The two-day festival served as a vibrant platform to celebrate the rich culture, traditional cuisine, and attire of Tripura’s 19 distinct tribes. The event garnered participation from numerous artists from various regions, contributing to its diversity and grandeur.

One of the festival’s key highlights was the showcase of traditional tribal foods, offering attendees a taste of the indigenous culinary delights.

During his address, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha praised the Khumpui Cultural Academy for organizing this colorful festival, emphasizing that it reinforces the message of ‘unity in diversity.’ He also shared insights into the state government’s initiatives aimed at the welfare of Janajati areas.

Dr. Saha mentioned that the state had already received funds through Externally Aided Projects, which would be allocated for the development of twelve aspirational blocks. He further commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy for catalyzing progress in the North East region, which had been historically neglected.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Dipak Majumder, the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Panchali Debbarma representing the organizing body, and other officials. The Ter festival serves as a testament to Tripura’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage and fostering unity among its diverse communities.
