Dr. Munjapara Mahendrabhai, Minister of State (MoS), Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Women & Child Development has assured all help for the Regional Ayurveda Research Center (RARC) on Wednesday. The Union Minister who is on a two-day visit to the state went to the centre and reviewed different research activities and services at OPD level.

The center was established on  March 7, 2019 as one of the centres of 31 centres under the Central Council for Research In Ayurvedic Sciences ( CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH. It is also the 5th  such centre in North-East region to promote research activities on Ayurevda.

The centre provides general OPD service with free consultation and medicines, implements activities like celebration of Poshan Maah, distribution of Ayurveda prophylactic medicines for COVID19, implementing Tribal Health Care Research project under TSP through mobile van and incorporating clinical trials under IMR scheme. The RARC is also implementing North East Health Care Programme at Khowai, Gomati, West Tripura and South Tripura districts as the extended OPD services, documentation of health status through epidemiological survey and intervention with Ayurvedic medicines and guidelines on diet and lifestyles modification.

Dr. Mahendrabhai stressed on the importance of Ayurvedic medicines for health care, particularly emphasising the treatment of malaria, anaemia, osteoarthritis etc. He also gave importance on medicinal plantation and distribution of saplings of medicinal plants under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahatsa.  

The Union minister assured his all-round cooperation for the development of the centre.

The interactive session was inaugurated by lightening of lamp and worshipping Lord Dhanvantari, the God of Ayurveda..

Dr. Sunanda Bhattacharyya, Branch Officer, National AYUSH Mission, Government of Tripura, Dr. Subash Kaushik, Senior Scientist, CCRH; Dr. Saibal Pandit, Branch Officer, Directorate of Health Services; Dr. Subrata Deb, Branch Officer, National AYUSH Mission, Government of Tripura; Dr. Achintya Mitra, R.O.( Ay.), CARI, Kolkata were also present in the meeting.

Welcome address was given by Dr. Rohit Kumar Ravte, Research Officer In-charge, RARC, Agartala.

The programme ended with vote of thank by Dr. Niral Sojeetra, Reserach Officer ( Ayurveda) followed by National Anthem.
