

Dr. Bibhas Kanti Kilikdar, a retired judge and an authority of Tribal customary laws, has been sworn in as Lokayukta of Tripura on Friday.
He was administered the oath by Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu at Raj Bhavan, Agartala, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other officials.
After taking the oath, the new Lokayukta stressed on a united fight against corruption and said that he would serve the responsibility given to him.
He said, corruption is a social disease. The Chief Minister also wants zero corruption. But, it is not possible to fight alone; there is a need for cooperation from all.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan and secretaries and directors of various departments were present.
Dr Kilikdar is considered an authority on Tribal customary laws and he authored several books and compendiums on legal matters. Dr Kilikdar who started his career as a teacher joined Judicial service in early 1980s. Widely travelled and known as no-nonsense-man Dr Kilikdar is also associated with various international and national organizations engaged in philanthropic activities. Apart from being known as an academic he also takes interest in cultural activities especially recitation.
