The 56th International Film Festival of India witnessed a vibrant day-long celebration on November 22 with IFFIESTA setting the tone for music, culture and cinematic dialogue in Goa.
IFFIESTA, organised by Doordarshan and WAVES OTT at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, continued IFFI’s tradition of blending cinema with live performance and cultural expression. Speaking at the event, Anupam Kher said Doordarshan introduced generations to the world of cinema, calling it a lasting fragrance in Indian creative memory. The Director General of Doordarshan underlined the role of WAVES OTT in providing safe and wholesome family entertainment while adapting to the digital shift.
The evening featured international flavour with South Korean MP Jaewon Kim rendering Vande Mataram, followed by an energetic live performance by singer-songwriter Osho Jain. Day Two of IFFIESTA showcased Battle of Bands, Suron Ka Eklavya and Waah Ustad segments, drawing enthusiastic participation from artists and audiences alike.
IFFI Day 3 highlighted India’s folk heritage through vibrant performances, connecting audiences to living traditions and transforming the festival into a celebration of regional rhythm.
Parallelly, an In Conversation session saw Shekhar Kapur and Berlinale Director Tricia Tuttle explore the impact of AI on storytelling, stressing that human imagination will always remain central to cinema. The day also marked the release of the book ‘Legends of Indian Silver Screen’, celebrating Dadasaheb Phalke awardees and India’s cinematic legacy.
From music to meaningful dialogue, November 22 reflected IFFI’s dynamic spirit where creativity meets culture and technology.
