In a vibrant display of political fervor, a colorful rally adorned the streets of the capital city as BJP candidate for Ramnagar assembly constituency Dipak Majumder – who is also the AMC Mayor-submitted his nomination papers to the Returning Officer for the seat Additional SDM Bipul Das.
The by- election to Ramnagar assembly constituency of Agartala has been necessitated in the wake of the death incumbent BJP MLA Surajit Dutta a ka Sunu da -who died in December last year following several health ailments. The by elections to the Ramnagar assembly seat will be held along with the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Tripura on April 19.
Addressing reporters, Majumder expressed his gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting him with the opportunity to contest the election. He extended his thanks to the supporters who had rallied behind him, citing his track record and performance during his tenure in the AMC over the past three years.
Reflecting on the significance of Late Surajit Dutta’s wife accompanying him, Majumder acknowledged Dutta’s longstanding service to the constituency, spanning over a decade. He described Dutta as a revered figure, akin to a father to the people of the area, pledging to diligently work and fulfill the expectations of the community.
The day’s proceedings saw the presence of State BJP general secretary Papiya Dutta, along with AMC Councilors and other senior leaders, who stood in solidarity with Dipak Majumder during the nomination submission.
This event underscores the spirited atmosphere surrounding the upcoming Ramnagar bypolls, as candidates garner support and articulate their commitments to serving the constituency.
BJP has fielded former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb for the West Tripura Parliamentary seat and Kriti Singh for the East seat.
Talking to the reporters, Majumder said, “I am indebted towards the party leadership for offering me this opportunity to fight the election and I am grateful towards the people who came all the way to support me considering my record and performance in the AMC for the last three years”.
