Tripura State Dinmajdoor Union organised a voluntary blood donation camp in Udaipur as part of its 10th State Conference, highlighting CITU’s commitment to social responsibility, humanitarian service, and community welfare beyond workers’ movements.

The Tripura State Dinmajdoor Union, under its Udaipur Sub-Division Committee, organised a voluntary blood donation camp at the CITU office in Udaipur on Saturday, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility alongside workers’ rights movements.

The humanitarian initiative was held as part of the union’s 10th State Conference and witnessed active participation from union members and supporters. The camp was formally inaugurated by Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) State General Secretary and former Member of Parliament, Shankar Prasad Dutta.

A total of 21 voluntary donors, including two women, donated blood during the camp. The organisers described the response as encouraging and reflective of growing awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives.

Addressing the gathering, Shankar Prasad Dutta emphasised that CITU and its affiliated unions have consistently gone beyond labour struggles to engage in socially meaningful activities. He said blood donation is not only a noble humanitarian act but also a powerful message of solidarity and compassion to society at large.

“Along with fighting for workers’ rights, CITU has always prioritised social responsibility. Voluntary blood donation is an act of humanity that strengthens social unity and helps those in urgent medical need,” Dutta stated.

Several prominent leaders and representatives were present at the event, including CPIM Gomati District Secretary Parimal Debnath, CITU State Secretary Dilip Dutta, Dinmajdoor Union State Secretary Kajal Das, Vice-President Ratan Dutta, and former Udaipur Municipal Chairperson Subrata Deb.

Also attending were CITU Udaipur Sub-Division Secretary Pradip Saha, Sub-Division President Kurpan Khadim, along with other union leaders, activists, and local supporters who contributed to the smooth organisation of the camp.

Speakers highlighted that such initiatives help build a positive image of trade unions and demonstrate their role in community welfare, especially during times when healthcare systems face shortages of essential resources like blood.

Organisers informed that the Dinmajdoor Union and CITU plan to continue similar humanitarian, health, and welfare activities in the future as part of their broader social commitment. They urged more people, especially youth and workers, to come forward and participate in voluntary blood donation drives to support critical healthcare needs across the state.
