The Crime Branch has submitted its charge-sheet against former Minister and Deputy Speaker of the assembly Pabitra Kar on Thursday in connection with a case registered on the basis of disproportionate assets, sources in the police department said. Earlier, Kar, a heavyweight Left leader, was summoned by the Crime Branch officials for questioning. The CPIM leader has, however, time and again refuted the charges and maintained that the cases lodged against him are politically motivated. According to police sources, “there are sharp discrepancies between his property and income sources. The case was registered and after completion of investigation, the charge-sheet was submitted on Thursday last”.
