CPM MLA  Ramendra Chandra Debnath  passed away on Tuesday morning in Kolkata following a massive heart attack. The former Speaker for a long time Debnath (66) was an acute diatbetic and suffering from kidney related ailments. He uesd to tak dialysis for kidney problems. Debnath is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter. The had gone tp Kolkata for treatment few days and today he was scheduled to return to Agartala. However, he became seriously ill before starting for Agartala and died at Tripura Bhavan.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb condoled the demise of Nath. Expressing sympathy to bereaved family members, Deb said, Nath played the role of the state Assembly speaker with efficiency for 15 years and everyone was shocked on his sudden demise. He was an MLA for three decades and the state lost a veteran politician.

Opposition leader and CPM Politburo member Manik Sarkar, I am shocked at the sudden death of Ramendra Nath. He recalled the contributions of the deceased leader and said Nath was a popular leader which was proved, once again after he won the Assembly polls in 2018 despite being physically unwell.

 CPI-M State Secretariat expressed deep mourning for death of Ramendra Debnath and expressed sympathy for the family members. The party also remembered his contribution with respect to party works and parliamentary democracy.
