In a development that has sent shockwaves through the Left Front, Farooq Chaudhury, the brother of former CPIM Minister Sahid Chaudhury, formally joined the BJP on Wednesday. The political shift occurred during a courtyard meeting held at Ward 5 under the Kulubari Panchayat in the Boxanagar Constituency.
Farooq Chaudhury, along with 40 voters, officially embraced the saffron party in the presence of key BJP figures, including Yuva Morcha Pradesh president Nabadal Banik and the BJP’s nominated candidate for the Boxanagar constituency, Tofazzal Hussain, among others.
Expressing his dissatisfaction with the functioning of the CPIM, Farooq Chaudhury conveyed his confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. He urged the public to rally behind the BJP candidate in Boxanagar, emphasizing the importance of good governance and continuous development.
This unexpected move by Farooq Chaudhury has dealt a significant blow to the Left Front, highlighting the changing political dynamics in the region. The Left Front now faces the challenge of retaining its support base in the wake of this high-profile defection to the BJP.
In another event the ruling BJP received a major boost at Dhanpur with the joining of 700 Tipra Motha voters from 171 families in presence of Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb and party president Rajib Bhattacharjee.
In the event that took place at Taibandal of the constituency Deb said, the regional parties of the state were results of deprivation and exploitation by the Left Front for decades.
