Tripura government has decided to extend compensation of of Rs 50,000 as ex-gratia to the next kin of the patients who died of Covid from January 1, 2021 onwards, .

The decision was taken in the wake of the orders of the Supreme Court of India issued on June 30 and October 04 last. 

The District Disaster Management Authority or District Magistrate Authority will provide the compensation money.

According to a government press release, to get the ex gratia the beneficiary has to submit an application attached with a death certificate mentioning the cause of death, before the concerned Disaster Management Authority. 

The compensation amount would be transferred to the beneficiary within 30 days of application.

In case of any difficulties in the process of getting a death certificate or ex gratia, the applicant can contact the district Grievance Committee.
