He is known for his sense of humour and dark wits especially while in choosing weird metaphors and references. And, often, his wacky ways of expressing otherwise innocuous subjects with such metaphors and comparisons land him in troubles, but mostly they would liven up the ambience with happy mood This time, however, he hit the hornets’ nest . The subject was explosive subject and he came out with a wild comparison. BJP MLA from Belonia Aurn Chandra Bhowmik has triggered controversies with his comment—exhorting party people to counter Trinamool Congress in ‘Talibani style’.
He was speaking at the felicitation programme arranged by the party for the new Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment- Pratima Bhowmik at Belonia old town hall on Wednesday evening.
Soon after Bhowmik passed the comment, it went viral on social media inviting wide criticism.
Bhowmi had said that TMC was trying to attack the Biplab Kumar Deb-led government in Tripura that ended the 25-year-long communist rule.
“I appeal to all of you that we need to attack them (Trinamool Congress) in the Talibani style. We need to attack them once they land in the airport. We have to protect the Biplab Kumar Deb-led government,” Bhowmik said.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference on Thursday, the MLA said he used the remark as an example only to narrate how to counter the Trinamool Congress’ Talibani style.
“I used the word as an example to narrate that the Trinamool Congress’ Taliban culture needs to be countered seriously,” Bhowmik told the press conference.
He said, in West Bengal, women are being raped in broad daylight and houses are being set afire displacing the people. This is Talibani culture. We have to counter the Talibani culture of TMC in our state.”
