Tripura government hiked the financial assistance for women construction workers’ marriage from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000.
Bhagaban Das, minister in charge of Labour said, the enhanced assistance would be an one-time assistance. Maximum of two daughters of a family can avail this facility. The amount would be given for the marriage expenses of the daughter of the construction worker’s family who are registered with the labour department. The project would be implemented by the Tripura Construction Workers Welfare Board under the Labour Department. And it will come into force from this month only.
Das said that since 2012, the construction workers ‘marriage scheme the amount for the assistance was Rs 10,000. But now it was felt that the amount should be increased. He also said that about 40,000 construction worker families in the state were given one-time assistance in the Covid emergency situation.
