c. The two former BJP leaders joined the Congress party at Delhi on February 8 last.
TPCC executive president Prof. Manik Deb said the Pradesh Congress will welcome the ex-MLAs on Saturday in a ceremonial function in front of Congress Bhawan. The Congress party in-charge for Tripura Ajoy Kumar and other leaders including PCC President Birjit Sinha will remain present on the occasion on Saturday next, he said.
Deb claimed that along with the ex-BJP MLAs many others from the ruling BJP and other parties will also join the Congress to strengthen the party’s battle against the BJP.
“The Congress is strengthening its base so as to put a tough battle against the BJP. People from all walks of life across the state are frustrated with the misrule of the BJP government under the leadership of Biplab Kumar Deb,” he said adding that with many leaders to join the Congress party in the coming days, the BJP will face a big jolt ahead of the 2023 assembly election.
On being asked in the press conference Deb refused to name the persons who are to join the Congress party and said, “Due to some technicalities and laws, we are unable to name those who will join Congress shortly.”
He said that in view of the ensuing assembly election the party in-charge Ajoy Kumar shall stay in Tripura to chair series of party meetings with the state leaderships.
