Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday chaired a review meeting of the Urban Development department to take understand the present status of several urban centric projects and schemes like Pradhan Mantrai Awaas Yojana (Urban), Swachcha Bharat Mission, Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission, AMRUT, Smart City mission, TUEP and TUDA etc.

Having reviewed the projects the Chief Minister instructed all concerned officials to of the Urban Development department to work on a mission mode to achieve the targets in time.

The Chief Minister specially stressed on the completion of  PMAY (Urban) targets at the earliest.

Addressing the meeting, Urban Development secretary- Kiran Gitte said, 11 projects are being implemented for the development of urban areas.

Under PMAY (Urban), the state received sanctions for total 85,386 houses for twenty urban local bodies including Agartala Municipal Corporation. Among them, construction of 47,340 houses has already been completed and 15,768 houses are under construction, Gitte said in the meeting.

Giving more details, the secretary said, Tripura received sanction of total Rs. 1428.93 crore so far—central share is Rs. 1286.04 crore and the state’s share is Rs. 142.89 crore.

Briefing about the Light House project, Gitte said, construction of 1399 among 1750 pillars has already been completed and a target has been set to complete the remaining pillars by February 2022. He also informed the meeting that 621 beneficiaries had already been selected for the 1000- flat project and it is expected that the project would get its final shape by October this year.

He also highlighted the plans and achievements under other schemes.

After taking the review, the Chief Minister stressed on increasing tax-revenue collection by the AMC and other urban local bodies.

Urban Development minister Santana Chakma, Chief Secretary Kumar Alok, AMC Commissioner Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav and other officials were present in the meeting.
