One of the important factors for overall development is women empowerment in reality. Women must stay aware about all kinds of central and state government facilities, said, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating Milan Mela- 2022 at Fatikroy Higher Secondary School ground today. The Mela will be organized for four days. In the beginning of the event, the Chief Minister paid floral tribute to the images of famous artistes who have had deceased recently. Then the Chief Minister along with the other guests unveiled a souvenir book at the event.
The Chief Minister said, overall development of any region is impossible without women becoming financially strong. Based on this thought process, the state government is working on priority basis to empower women ad generate income opportunities for them. As a result, they become financially independent on one hand and on the other hand, their participation in social activities is also increasing. The initiative of 33% reservation for women will play a significant role in accelerating the step towards ensuring their respectful position in work field. Plan has been taken to set up a 100-bedded unit for mother and child in Agartala Government Medical College. There will be separate Help Centre for women in every Police station for delivering speedy assistance to women. Plans are there to set up two special 50-bedded hospitals for treatment of heart diseases. Initiatives have been taken to provide loans as financial assistances for women to help them create income opportunities. About almost 3 lakh women members of Self-Help Groups have found their path to become self-dependent. Plans are there to set up Rehabilitation Centres in two districts of the state-West Tripura and North Tripura.
The Chief Minister also said, the state government is working to ensure rights of every citizen of the state with transparency. Efforts are ongoing to deliver the benefits of all government schemes till the last person of the society, rising above any kind of narrowness. The government has made plans to increase the sum of social pensions and has plans for the welfare of tea garden workers. Development has taken up speed in every sector such as increase of items in rationing, education, health, clean drinking water etc. He also said, Prime Minister’s goal to empower women throughout the country reflects in the recent Legislative Assembly election.
MLA Sudhangshu Das at the event said, the state government is determined to build addiction-free Tripura. As sports keeps the young generation away from the reach of addiction, likewise a positive initiative such as the Mela will play a vital role in continuing cultural exercises. Others present at the event were MLA Dilip Das, Sabhadhipati of Unakoti district Amalendu Das, and DM Uttam Kumar Chakma.
