Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for construction of an RCC bridge over the river Manu connecting Manikpur village in Dhalai district. With the laying of foundation stone of the RCC bridge a long standing demand of the Manikpur villagers is now going to be fulfilled.

At present, the local villagers are dependent on a makeshift bridge that connects Manikpur with Debacherra to cross the river. Once completed, the bridge will not only make the movement of the villagers easier but also play an important role in improving the local socio-economic condition.

When the Chief Minister reached Chawmanu in Dhalai district on Monday, he was given a warm reception by the local people. There was huge enthusiasm among the villagers following the Chief Minister’s visit.

Deb, who also inaugurated three other bridges from Chailengta to Chawmanu, himself walked on the makeshift bridge to witness the ground reality and difficulties faced by the villagers due to non-availability of an RCC bridge in the area.

Addressing the programme, Deb held the communist rule responsible for allegedly importing drugs in the state and driving the youths towards a dark future.

Deb said, his government is committed to make Tripura free from drugs with zero tolerance.

Later in a social media post, the Chief Minister mentioned that the project would be completed in 24 months and Rs.500.33 lakh had already been sanctioned as the project cost.

In another post on his official Facebook handle, Deb wrote that the entire region was deprived of development during the tenure of previous governments.

“We are committed to the equal development of all those who have voted for us or those who have not,” Deb commented.

Later Deb participated in a party programme at Kumarghat, where he held discussions on the union budget- 2022.

There is a need to spread the history of those who indirectly helped the communists to enjoy power for a long period and deprive the people of Tripura, Deb said.
