Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha presided over a meeting on June 23 at the Secretariat to prepare for the programme titled ‘Kranti Veero Ke Naam’ of 75 Border Villages. In the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is being celebrated across the country with the idea of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inspire the people of the country with patriotism. The two-year programme will continue until August 15, 2023.

A programme titled ’75 Border Villages Kranti Veero Ke Naam’ will be held in the state between July 15 and August 15 to pay tribute to the freedom fighters and unsung heroes of the country. A total of 75 border villages in 16 sub-divisions of eight districts of the state will be identified in this programme. Plaques with the names of freedom fighters will be made there.

On this occasion, felicitations of freedom fighters and their family members, a marathon, a 75-kilometre bicycle rally, a Kranti Veer musical concert, patriotic drama and song, a drawing workshop, a traditional food festival, and a calendar drawing competition will be organized in the identified villages.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister also interacted virtually with the Sabhadhipati of the Zilla Parishads and District Magistrates of the eight districts of the state.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that every citizen of society should be involved in this programme. He said that all the freedom fighters who are in the 75 identified border villages can feel that the country is showing respect for their sacrifice through this programme.

In this regard, special initiatives should be taken to introduce Kranti Veer to the new generation. While discussing, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha said that 75 villages identified on the occasion of the programme should focus on 100 percent implementation of all the schemes related to the beneficiaries of the state and central governments.

During the preliminary discussion about the organisation of the programme in the meeting, the Secretary of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, said that the 75 border village Kranti Veero Ke Naam’ programme is being organised as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Secretary of Home Department Sharadindu Chowdhury, Secretary of Tourism Department Uttam Kumar Chakma, Additional Director General of Police Saurabh Tripathi (Law and Order), Secretary of Rural Development Department Dr. Sandip R Rathod, Director of Tourism Department Tapan Kumar Das, Director of Youth Affairs and Sports Department S.B. Nath, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya, and others were present in the meeting.
