Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb stressed on the need of expansion of various healthcare facilities schemes to all, especially the the economically weaker section. And for this he exhorted the medical fraternity to come forward with a proactive role.
Deb said that around 12.50 lakhs people were already receiving the benefits of Ayushman Bharat but his government was working on mission mode to cover more people.
He was addressing a programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan organized by the Health department to mark three years completion of Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Addressing the programme, Deb said that the state government was working with the goal of reducing expenditure in Healthcare through proper implementation and utilization of Ayushman Bharat. To achieve the goal, emphasis was laid to increase the stock of generic medicines, he said.
The Chief Minister stressed on opening generic medicine counters in adequate numbers.
He said, “I can ask the doctors to prescribe generic medicines only when counters are available in adequate numbers. A decision has to be taken in this regard by holding a meeting. Besides, earlier talks were held on setting up a private medicine counter in GBP hospital and providing a 30 percent discount on medicine price.”
Addressing the programme, Deb also acknowledged the role of the Health department in Covid pandemic management.
“I expect more from the Health department since the way they fought back the Covid situation has set an example. The Union Health Minister praised the role of our Health department through tweets multiple times,” Deb said.
“We are committed for the welfare of all sections of people in a transparent manner and through proper management. Our government not only dreams; we also work to implement the dream. Be it drinking water facility, electricity, education, healthcare or irrigation, multiple schemes are being implemented for the welfare of the people,” Deb told the programme.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister launched a Specialist Teleconference Service on e-Sanjeevani Platform through which the people from remote places can avail the service from specialist doctors. He said the government would take initiatives to modernize the service with more facilities.
In this context, Deb said the new facility would reduce geographical distance between the doctors and patients in terms of medical consultation.
In another note, the Chief Minister mentioned that a special drive was conducted under Mukhyamantri Sustho Shoishob Sustho Kaishore Abhiyaan across the state between September 1 and 15 last. He said almost 95 percent of the target was achieved, covering around 11 lakh children and adolescents. Meanwhile, around 12.80 lakhs children and adolescents (0-19 years) were targeted. The MSSKA is a de-worming and diarrhoea control programme.
In the programme, some of the healthcare staff were honoured for their contributions in healthcare. Besides, the members from the families of ASHA worker Uma Dey and Lab technician Anindya Dalal of Tripura Medical College, who lost their lives due to Covid pandemic, were also honoured.
Principal Secretary (Health) J.K. Sinha, Additional Secretary Subhash Chandra Saha, Tripura Mission Director of NHM Dr. Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal, Health director Dr. Subhasis Debbarma and Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine department- Dr. Radha Debbarma were present in the programme.
