CM Dr. Saha will inaugurate the Jirania Eco-Tourism and Water Park project on January 5, 2026. Developed under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, the project aims to boost tourism, employment, and sustainable infrastructure in Tripura.

Tripura is set to witness a major boost to its tourism infrastructure as Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will lay the foundation stone of a large-scale eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and water park project at Sachindranagar Colony in Jirania on January 5, 2026. The ambitious project is expected to redefine leisure tourism in the state and emerge as a key attraction for both domestic and regional visitors.

The upcoming tourism hub is being developed under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme of the Government of India, which focuses on sustainable tourism development, cultural integration, and modern infrastructure. Inspired by Kolkata’s popular Nicco Park, the Jirania project aims to blend recreation, adventure, and environmental sustainability within a single destination.

Ahead of the Chief Minister’s scheduled visit, Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury conducted a comprehensive inspection of the project site on Friday. Accompanied by the Jirania Sub-Divisional Magistrate, senior administrative officials, engineers, and local representatives, the minister reviewed the entire project area along with arrangements for the foundation stone-laying ceremony.

During the inspection, officials assessed land readiness, accessibility, safety measures, and logistical planning to ensure a smooth and well-organized inauguration event. Emphasis was laid on maintaining timelines, infrastructure standards, and environmental guidelines as the project moves toward its construction phase.

Speaking to officials and local residents, Minister Chowdhury stated that the eco-tourism and water park project will play a transformative role in strengthening Tripura’s tourism economy. He highlighted that the project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for local youth, including jobs in construction, hospitality, maintenance, transport, and tourism services.

Beyond employment, the development is also projected to improve road connectivity, public amenities, and overall infrastructure in and around Jirania. Local businesses, vendors, and service providers are anticipated to benefit from increased tourist footfall once the project becomes operational.

For the residents of Jirania, the project represents the realization of a long-standing aspiration. Many locals described the initiative as a historic moment for the region, marking a shift toward modern development while preserving ecological balance. Community members expressed optimism that the project would put Jirania firmly on Tripura’s tourism map.

Officials confirmed that the foundation stone ceremony will formally mark the commencement of construction, with phased development planned to ensure quality execution and environmental compliance. Once completed, the park is expected to offer eco-friendly attractions, adventure activities, water rides, and family recreation zones.
