In an important step Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has asked Director General of Police VS Yadav to review the UAPA case against journalist and lawyers . The draconian UAPA was slammed against them when the came to Tripura to enquire into the reported communal violence in the wake of attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. The Tripura police maintained that they were involved in some nefarious design to disrupt communal harmony by spreading fake news on communal violence in the state .
They joyrnaist and lawyers also moved the Supreme Court against the police case.
A total of 102 persons were slammed with police cases under various sections for spreading rumour and fake news in mainstream media as well as social media.
Sources said, having been directed by the Chief Minister the DGO asked his ADG Crime to look into the matter,
