Piyush Debnath, a meritorious student from Dalugaon Kailashahar had little idea that his appeal to draw attention of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb seeking help for higher education would get such a ready response. A student of Dalugaon High School, Piyush, informed the Chief Minister through social media that due to the poverty his dream to pursue higher education would not turn true.
He cleared the Madhyamik exams in flying colors with aggregate 72 percent marks. Now, for his higher studies he needs financial assistance. Finding no other options, he made an impassioned appeal towards Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
As his appeal was brought to the notice of Chief Minister, he collected all the contact addresses from him. He directed Vivekananda Vichar Mancha Unakoti District Committee to look into the matter.
As soon as the instructions of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb were received, the members of Unakoti District Committee of Vivekananda Vichar Mancha rushed to Dalugaon village in Kailashahar. They went there and found that the appeal made by poor student Piyush Debnath is justified.
Piyush Debnath’s father is a farmer and his family belongs to Ad-hoc BPL category. Piyush’s elder sister is studying Sanskrit Honors in Kailashahar College. After scoring high in Madhyamik, he wants to become a lawyer in future.
On Sunday, members of the Vivekananda Vichar Mancha Unakoti District Committee visited Piyush’s house and handed over important books and related educational materials to him. At the same time, Mancha assures him that all the responsibilities of his studies will be taken by the organization. In this, a happy atmosphere can be noticed in the family of poor Piyush Debnath of Dalgaon village in Kailashahar.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb lauded the members of Vivekananda Vichar Mancha of the Unakoti District Committee on their social media for standing by the meritorious students in a distressed family on the instructions of the Chief Minister. He wrote on his social media, “I thank Vivekananda Vichar Mancha for standing by a poor but meritorious student of the state. Piyush Debnath, a meritorious student of class XII from a very poor family in Dalugaon, Kailashahar, sent me a message on Facebook asking for help in his studies. At the request of my office, the office contacted the Kailashahar branch of Vivekananda Vichar Mancha Social Organization. And I will call on social organizations to stand by the backward and destitute people of the society. By standing by each other, our society will be able to move forward.”
