Deserved respect has to be shown towards the faith of the citizen. The newly elected people representatives of Urban local bodies have to be more attentive towards resolving citizen’s grievances. The main aim for every urban local body must be successful implementation of all the adopted plans, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in an orientation programme with newly elected members of Urban local bodies organized by Urban Development department at Rabindra Bhawan today. The Chief Minister unveiled the success cover of the department from 1972 to 2021. Then two women each of Self-Help Groups under 20 urban bodies were felicitated in the programme.

The Chief Minister said, the main aim of the state government is providing transparent and speedy citizen centric services. The state government is paying equal importance to the development of each sector. The urban bodies play vital role in delivering facilities of different central and state schemes to people in order to build Tripura into a prosperous state. The elected members have to work sincerely towards delivering timely citizen centric services till the last person of the society rising above any kind of narrowness. And it requires clear consciousness about the work procedure. It also requires to acquire experience and knowledge of government schemes. He said, it is important to select priority areas primarily besides providing regular citizen centric services. He suggested the newly elected members to regularly visit their respective areas, ensure that every service is being provided to the people, identify their problems and resolve them accordingly.

    The Chief Minister also said, many houses are being provided to poor families under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi enquires about the progress of the scheme implementation, which shows his sincerity towards successful implementation of every scheme. He called upon the newly elected members to dissolve themselves for public welfare. Urban Development Minister Santana Chakma said, it is not possible to develop urban services by the government or the department alone. It requires cooperative efforts from all sides. The government is working prioritizing development of urban services. This is where the urban bodies play vital role to accelerate the effort. She hoped for everyone’s cooperation in providing every kind of facility of different central and state schemes to the beneficiaries including house distribution under PMAY.

Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar said, the newly elected members need to gain required knowledge upon the ways through which services will be provided to the citizens properly. Urban development has taken up speed in the period of the present government paying respect to people’s expectations. It would not have been possible without the Chief Minister’s sincere efforts. He called upon everyone to deliver services to people without needing them to come to ask for it. Others present in the event were Secretary of Urban Development department Kiran Gitte, AMC Commissioner Sailesh Kumar Yadav and others.
