CII North East Rubber Conclave 2026 in Agartala highlights sustainable growth, EUDR compliance, investment opportunities, and innovation to build a competitive rubber value chain, positioning North East India as a key global rubber production and export hub.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) successfully organised the CII North East Rubber Conclave & Exposition 2026 today at Pragna Bhawan, Agartala. The conclave, themed “From Plantation to Product: Building a Competitive Rubber Value Chain in the North East,” brings together key stakeholders from government, industry, research, and financial institutions to deliberate on strengthening the rubber ecosystem in the region.

Addressing the gathering as Guest of Honour, M Vasanthagesan, Executive Director, Rubber Board, emphasized the need for productivity enhancement, adoption of scientific practices, and value addition to strengthen the competitiveness of the North East rubber sector at the national and global levels. He also highlighted the growing importance of compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), noting that traceability, sustainable sourcing, and deforestation-free supply chains will be critical for accessing international markets. He urged stakeholders to proactively align with EUDR requirements to ensure long-term export competitiveness of India’s rubber sector.

In his special address, Pravin L Agrawal, PCCF, Department of Forests and Managing Director, Tripura Forest Development and Plantation Corporation Limited, spoke about the importance of sustainable forestry practices and the integration of rubber plantations with environmental conservation efforts.

Providing the bankers’ perspective, Anil S Kotmire, General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), underlined the growing investment opportunities in the rubber sector in Tripura. He stressed the role of institutional finance in supporting farmers, startups, and enterprises engaged in rubber-based industries.

Delivering the welcome address, Rabin Bose, Co-Chair, CII Tripura State Council, highlighted the strategic importance of Tripura and the North East in India’s natural rubber landscape. He emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration across the value chain—from cultivation to processing and manufacturing—to unlock the region’s full potential.

The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by CII, setting the stage for subsequent technical sessions and panel discussions focused on sustainable plantation practices, productivity enhancement, and investment opportunities in the rubber sector.
