Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Puneet Agarwal visited Dharmanagar, the district headquarters of North Tripura, on Friday morning as part of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming election counting
Upon his arrival, Agarwal proceeded directly to the Bir Bikram Institution, where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were securely stored. This location houses four vote-counting stations. The CEO inspected the counting centers, strong rooms, media rooms, drinking water facilities, and CCTV surveillance systems.
Accompanying Agarwal were North District DM Debapriya Bardhan, North District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty, and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) from the four segments of the Dharmanagar subdivision. Together, they reviewed the arrangements and consulted with relevant officials.
Later, Agarwal chaired a review meeting at the Dharmanagar District Magistrate’s conference hall. Officials from all line departments in the district participated, with a specific focus on the vote counting process. Police officials, including AROs from the Dharmanagar, Panisagar, and Kanchanpur sub-divisions, were also present.
A specific strong room has been established in the Panisagar subdivision, which Agarwal plans to inspect as part of his comprehensive review. Addressing reporters, Agarwal stated, “I have come to inspect the strong rooms set up at Dharmanagar Bir Bikram Institution in North Tripura district.” This visit underscores the commitment to ensuring a smooth and secure counting process for the upcoming elections.
