The Centre has prepared a bill to repeal all the three farm laws in the upcoming session of the Parliament, which now awaits the consent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, media reports said on Monday.
It will be one comprehensive Bill. Meanwhile, the Agriculture Ministry is also working on whether the Minimum Support Price (MSP) issue would be addressed as guidelines or in a statutory form as the farmers have been demanding.
The proposed Bill will make provisions to close down all boards that were constituted related to the implementation of the three farm laws.
Through the bill, all decisions taken by earlier will be null and void, reports said.
Any offices constituted will also cease operations. Some states had reportedly tried to operate during the brief period of six months when the laws were implemented.
Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait reiterated that the farm protests will continue till all their demands, including legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), are met.
He criticized PM Narendra Modi for not implementing the Swaminathan Committee’s recommendations.
“Mr Modi as Gujarat CM had headed a committee in 2011 demanding a statutory guarantee for MSP. He should implement that report now,” BKU leader said during a Kisan Mahapanchayat here at the Eco ground.
“We will not compromise till MSP becomes a law in the country,” he added.
He said he would campaign against BJP across the country if demands were not met.
“Truce has been called by the government, not us. It’s time for farmers, youth and workers to unite and continue their fight,” he said.
He said there will be attempts to entangle farmers in the name of Jinnah, Hindu and Muslims, but farmers have to stand united and won’t fall prey to such conspiracy.
Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), which is spearheading the protests against the farm laws, says they would work against the BJP in state elections.
