The city of Agartala is abuzz with anticipation as it prepares for the much-awaited Puja carnival, ‘Mayer Gomon,’ scheduled for Thursday evening.
The Information and Cultural Affairs Department (ICA), in collaboration with the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and other government bodies, has left no stone unturned in making elaborate arrangements to ensure the event’s success.
A total of 31 clubs are poised to participate in the carnival, commencing at 5 p.m. The event promises a spectacle of colourful processions for idol immersion and captivating cultural performances that are sure to leave a lasting impression on the audience.
This year, a large gathering is expected to be drawn to the carnival, where participating puja organisers will go all out to captivate not only the crowds but also the esteemed judges’ panel, as awards await in various categories.
Officials have assured that all necessary measures, including robust security arrangements, are in place to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable cultural extravaganza for the public.
Additionally, a traffic advisory has been issued, outlining designated routes, no-vehicle zones, parking areas, and emergency routes. Notably, from 2 p.m. on October 26, 2023, a specific route will be reserved exclusively for the purpose of idol Durga immersion, ensuring a smooth procession from Kaman Chowmuhan to Dashamighat.
NO-ENTRY will be imposed at Gandhighat, Nagrejala, Bottala, Dashamighat, Joypur, Auguntak Club, Joynagar Office Lane, Fire Service Chowmuhani, IGM Chowmuhani, Birendra Club Junction, Back Side of IGM Hospital, RMS Chowmuhani, Madyapara Road, Orient Chowmuhani, Jacksion Gate, Gol Bazar, Lalmatya Crossing, and Netajl Chowmuhani.
The emergency routes are from TMC Hapania to IGM/GBP Hospital/ILS, Hapania. A.D. Nagar, Fly Over, IGM, TRTC, BK Chowmuhani, Colonel Chowmuhani, Haradhan Sangho, North Gate, Radhanagar, Murtiprangan, and GBP Hospital/ILS From GBP Hospital/ILS Hospital towards IGM Hapania TMC, ILS/GB Murtlprangan, Radhanagar, North Gate, Haradhan, Colonel, B.K., RMS, IGM, Flyover, and A.D. Nagar
The airport and railway passengers have been requested to keep valid air tickets or boarding passes with them and use the sticker “Airport and Railway Passenger” on the vehicle. They may use any roads to go to the airport or station and from the airport or station to their destination.
