Tripura Agricultural Graduates Association donated Rs 3 lakh for Manashree’s SMA treatment, supporting the child’s fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Minister Ratan Lal Nath praised the initiative and appealed for wider public participation to help meet the costly life-saving treatment expenses.
In a heartfelt gesture of compassion and solidarity, the Tripura Agricultural Graduates Association has contributed Rs 3 lakh to support the treatment of little Manashree, who is battling the rare genetic disorder Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). The financial assistance reflects the growing wave of public support for the child, whose treatment requires an enormous amount beyond the means of her family.
The donation cheque was handed over to Manashree’s father in the presence of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who praised the officers and members of the association for responding positively to his appeal to stand beside the family during their difficult time.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nath described the contribution as more than a financial donation, saying it represents the humanitarian values and collective responsibility of the Agriculture Department. He noted that the officers have demonstrated that government institutions are not merely administrative bodies but families that stand united in times of crisis.
The Minister urged officials and employees across the department to come forward with voluntary contributions according to their ability. He emphasized that true compassion is reflected not by the amount donated but by the willingness to share the burden of those facing unimaginable hardships.
Highlighting the seriousness of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Minister Nath pointed out that the treatment is extremely expensive and requires collective public participation. He said no single individual or organization can shoulder the entire cost, making community support essential for giving Manashree a chance at recovery.
Nath also acknowledged the contributions already made by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, various organisations, and numerous well-wishers across the state. He added that he has personally contributed to the treatment fund and encouraged others to extend whatever support they can.
Recalling the unity displayed by the people of Tripura during the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating floods that affected the state, the Minister expressed confidence that the same spirit of togetherness would once again inspire citizens to help Manashree.
“Every contribution, whether large or small, is a candle of hope,” Nath said, urging society to unite for the child. He stressed that every donation brings Manashree one step closer to receiving the life-saving treatment she urgently needs.
