Even as there are obvious indications of realignment of rival political parties as both Congress and Left Front overtly showing interest in joining hands before the 2023 assembly elections the ruling BJP decided to go whole hog by not only strengthening the organization but also fulfilling the commitments that had been given in 2018.
The BJP state executives’ two-day meeting discussed in threadbare the strength and weakness of the party and found that there was no scope left for the complacence as shortcomings in its organizational structures, resentments at various levels were hard to miss.
The meeting which was attended by almost all the party seniors included Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha- who is also the state unit president, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP state prabhari Vinod Sonkar, all ministers and party position holders at various capacities.
According to party sources, the BJP executive meetings dwelt mostly and primarily on the preparations for the 2023 assembly elections and as to how the party organizations right from the booth levels could be further strengthened and also to arrest the desertion of some of the disgruntled party leaders and workers at mid and grass root level. The party decided to address the resentment without delay.
One of the important decisions that the meeting took included fulfilment of all the vacant posts, hike in Social Allowances up to Rs. 2000 before Durga Puja, release of DA for employees and fulfilment of all the promises as envisaged in the vision document of 2018 before assembly elections. The party appeared well aware of the fact that appointments and DA for the employees were the most important issues at hand before the state goes to assembly polls in February next to sway the youths and employees. The meeting told the government to full fill these two demands forthwith without delay.
Apart from that the BJP seniors also contemplated over the change in the BJP president’s position since Chief Minister Dr Saha had become over burdened with his administrative workload and would not find time to run the organization which would need highly spirited and aggressive leadership before the elections—which would undoubtedly be tougher than the previous one.
