At the Pradesh BJP headquarters in Krishnanagar, Agartala, state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and other dignitaries gathered to honor Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Speaking to the press, Bhattacharjee highlighted Mukherjee’s role as a patriot, nationalist thinker, and founder of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh. He emphasized Mukherjee’s firm stance on national unity and integrity, quoting his famous declaration against the division of India into multiple entities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has notably designated this day as ‘Balidan Diwas’ nationwide, recognizing Mukherjee’s sacrifices and contributions. Bhattacharjee credited PM Modi for steering the nation on the visionary path envisioned by Mukherjee, aimed at building a robust and prosperous India.
In addition to the main event in Agartala, the BJP undertook various initiatives across the state, including tree plantation drives and community outreach programs, guided by the party’s leadership in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, in the 18-Surjyamaninagar constituency, MLA Ram Prasad Paul led a symbolic early morning rally, termed ‘Udayastha Padyatra’, marking the start of a commemorative fortnight from June 23 to July 6 in honor of Balidan Diwas. Addressing reporters, MLA Ram Prasad Paul highlighted the significance of Mukherjee’s principles in shaping their ongoing initiatives.
