Besides the rural economic development, farmers have now become self-confident because of government’s proper planning. The government has given priority to using modern technology and entrepreneurial spirit instead of traditional ways of farming, stated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in the 10th biennial conference of Tripura Krishi Snatak Samiti on December 19 at Agartala Town Hall. The Chief Minister along with other guests unveiled the cover page of the Samiti’s souvenir. A cheque of 51 thousand rupees was donated to Chief Minister Relief Fund on behalf of the Samiti.

The Chief Minister interacted with the agriculture officials present in the conference on the state’s achievement, speed and other matters in agriculture sector. He said, the officials and others involved with welfare of agriculture are the main architect for solidifying the base of the primary sectors. Rising beyond the self-satisfaction of agriculture officials and researchers in the state, everyone has to dedicate themselves to escalate the development of primary sector. He emphasized upon adapting new ideas to keep regular contact with successful farmers including research in agricultural development.

The Chief Minister said, the Minimum Support Price is going to be set to 18 rupees 40 paisa per kilogram due to the proper management of the state government. Farmer’s income has increased from 6,580 rupees to 11,093 rupees. Farmers have found the path to self-reliance by utilizing agricultural products such as pineapple, scented lemons, jackfruits, betel leaves, tamarind etc. Utilizing the pineapple based trade opportunity, going beyond the traditional ways, the ratio has increased through production of non-seasonal pineapples including more plantation of saplings on particular lands.

Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare Minister Pranajit Singha Roy in the programme said, the farmers had to face losses due to non-seasonal rainfall. The government is observant towards the matter. There was a lack of interest towards farmer’s welfare. The state government is working towards lessening the production costs besides increase in production of agricultural products. The government has made necessary arrangements for marketing of the products besides increasing its production. Opportunities are being provided for a bunch of plans such as soil health card, Kisan Credit Card, Kisan Samman Nidhi etc. the government has emphasized upon organic farming.
