Former chief minister and current Rajya Sabha member of the BJP, Biplab Kumar Deb, was greeted with fervent enthusiasm as he arrived at Agartala airport.

Hundreds of party workers, led by sitting MLA Bhagwan Das and party general secretary Amit Rakshit, welcomed him with spirited slogans upon his emergence from the airport lounge.

Garlanded by senior leaders, Deb was ushered into an open-headed jeep, making his way to the party office in Krishna Nagar, accompanied by a multitude of supporters.

The unexpected nomination of Deb to the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat has sparked speculations regarding his replacement in the Rajya Sabha and his candidature for the East Tripura (ST) seat. Additionally, questions arise over the rehabilitation of Pratima Bhowmik.

Sources suggest that ‘Tipra Motha’ might be allocated the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat, potentially under the BJP symbol, or offered the positions of Deputy Chief Minister and another ministerial role.

However, final decisions rest with the party’s top leadership in Delhi, with formal announcements pending. Deb is expected to address the media soon, shedding light on these political maneuvers.
