In an attempt to strengthen  the organizational penetration before the 2023 assembly elections former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has begun meeting the beneficiaries of various central and state schemes across the state. On Friday Deb interacted with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana and Kisan Samman Nidhi in Khowai district. He also visited several houses at Dhalabil and inquired about the implementation of the two projects. He also talked to the tea garden workers in the area.

Deb then attended a meeting in jam-packed Khowai Town Hall where he interacted with the beneficiaries of various government schemes.

Addressing the interaction programme, Deb said the city was known as the Red Fort before 2018. The people of Khowai didn’t have the right to move freely; there was no right to speak and there was no respect for women.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when the BJP ousted communists from power in 2018, a fear-free atmosphere was ensured. Besides, Khowai, the city of culture, got back its glory, Deb said.

He also highlighted the major public welfare schemes of the government including the initiatives for ensuring women empowerment and farmers’ welfare.

Elaborating the Mukhyamantri Cha Shramik Kalyan Prakalp launched in the state to improve the socio-economic status of tea garden workers, he said Rs. 100 crore would be required to implement the scheme.

Under this scheme, the tea garden workers would get land ownership as well as permanent housing, facilities of drinking water, health insurance and education, he said.

As part of the programme, Deb also didn’t miss to remind the people that the election would take place in less than a year. He made a request to the people to cast their votes in the 2023 polls in terms of the works done by the BJP-IPFT government.

Sabhadhipati of Khowai Zilla Parisbad Joydeb Debbarma, Chief Whip of Legislative Assembly Kalyani Roy, MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury, Secretary of Tripura Sports Council Amit Rakshit, member of Khowai Zilla Parishad Subrata Majumdar, District Magistrate L T. Darlong, Director of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Navojit Chakma and others were present in the interaction programme.
