Bigg Boss 20 contestant Qazi Touqeer has opened up about his longstanding friendship with popular playback singer Arijit Singh, praising the singer’s extraordinary passion for music, fighting spirit and grounded personality. Qazi spoke warmly about Arijit while interacting with fellow housemates on the reality show, recalling their friendship that dates back to the 2005 singing reality show Fame Gurukul.
Qazi and Arijit first met more than two decades ago as young contestants on Fame Gurukul. Although their professional journeys later took different directions, the two have maintained a close friendship over the years. Speaking about Arijit on Bigg Boss 20, Qazi expressed deep affection and admiration for the singer.
“Bro, I’m telling you. That guy is my life,” Qazi said while talking about Arijit. He went on to describe his friend’s remarkable dedication to music and his ability to remain completely absorbed in the creative process for hours.
According to Qazi, Arijit’s passion for music is so intense that he can spend several hours playing the sitar without losing concentration or becoming tired. He recalled that once Arijit begins playing, he becomes so immersed in the music that he loses track of time.
Qazi said that Arijit has an incredible fighting spirit and does not easily become tired, adding that the singer can remain engaged with music for six or seven hours continuously. He described how Arijit would sit with his sitar and remain completely lost in the musical process.
“He sits down with his sitar. Once he starts, he loses track of time. Seven hours, six hours, constantly. He is completely lost in it,” Qazi recalled while discussing his friend’s musical obsession.
Qazi also highlighted how Arijit’s happiness comes from the process of creating music rather than material possessions. Comparing their interests, he said that while he personally has a fascination for clothes and similar things, Arijit finds his real joy in the process of making music.
For Qazi, Arijit’s dedication is one of the qualities that makes the singer special. He spoke about his friend with visible emotion and admiration, particularly when he was asked to name his favourite Arijit Singh song.
Qazi chose “Tum Hi Ho”, the much-loved song from the 2013 film Aashiqui 2. The track, sung by Arijit Singh and composed by Mithoon, became a major milestone in the singer’s career and remains among his most popular songs.
While choosing the song, Qazi dedicated it to Arijit and spoke about the depth of their friendship. He said that his respect and affection for the singer are so strong that he sometimes feels there are not enough words to express them.
“I love you, Arijit bhai. We love Arijit,” Qazi said, adding that the entire country loves the singer.
Arijit, meanwhile, had publicly shown his support for Qazi after the latter entered Bigg Boss 20. Taking to X, Arijit revealed that Qazi’s participation had given him a reason to watch the reality show for the first time.
“I will have to watch BIG BOSS for the first time in my life cz Apna Rockstar QAZI hai udhar,” Arijit wrote.
