Bangladesh Bank, the central bank of the country, has instructed women officials and staff to wear sarees, salwar-kameez with scarves, or other formal and modest attire.
The new guidelines, issued on Monday by the Bangladesh Bank, prohibit short-sleeved and short-length dresses, as well as leggings for women.
The directive outlines specific attire requirements for the employees and warns that non-compliance will be considered a breach of discipline.
All departments have been directed to designate an officer to monitor dress code compliance, said the guidelines.
