Azim Premji Foundation opens Round 2 of Azim Premji Scholarship 2025–26, offering ₹30,000 annually to disadvantaged girls across 18 states and one Union Territory, supporting undergraduate and diploma education nationwide.

The Azim Premji Foundation has announced the opening of Round 2 applications for the 2025–26 cohort of the Azim Premji Scholarship, a major educational support initiative aimed at enabling girls from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue higher education across India. The program seeks to reduce financial barriers that often prevent young women from continuing their studies after school.

The scholarship is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to improving equity, access, and quality in higher education, particularly for students from government schools. According to the Foundation, applications for the 2025–26 academic session are being accepted in two phases. While the first round concluded in September 2025, the second round will remain open from January 10 to January 31, 2026.

The Azim Premji Scholarship is open to girls who have completed Class 10 and Class 12 as regular students from government schools or colleges. Eligible candidates must have secured admission in the first year of a recognised undergraduate degree or diploma course for the academic year 2025–26. These courses may range from two to five years in duration and can be pursued at government institutions or credible private colleges and universities anywhere in India.

Under the scheme, each selected student will receive ₹30,000 per year for the entire duration of her degree or diploma programme. The financial assistance can be used to cover tuition fees, academic materials, accommodation, transportation, or other education-related expenses, giving students the flexibility to manage their academic needs effectively.

In the 2025–26 academic year, the scholarship will be available to students from 18 states and one Union Territory, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Puducherry. A significant number of beneficiaries are expected to come from the Northeast region, with more than 30,000 girls projected to benefit from the initiative.

The Foundation has stated that it plans to offer the Azim Premji Scholarship to up to 2.5 lakh girls nationwide during the current academic year, making it one of the largest privately funded scholarship programs for girls’ higher education in India.

The entire application process is online and free of cost. Eligible students must register and submit their applications exclusively through the Azim Premji Foundation’s official scholarship portal.

The scholarship was pilot-launched in the 2024–25 academic year in Madhya Pradesh and selected districts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand. During the pilot phase, over 25,000 girls received financial support, reinforcing the program’s impact and scalability.

With the expansion of the scholarship across multiple states, the Azim Premji Foundation aims to empower thousands of young women, strengthen higher education access, and contribute to long-term social and economic development.
