In an attempt to create mass awareness about AIDS, HIV and Drugs abuse, State government has planned a mega cultural programme in the city where eminent singers like Kumar Sanu and Palak Muchhal will perform live on March 25 next at Swami Vivekananda Maidan.
ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury in a press conference said the musical night as part of 3rd Multi-Media Campaign against HIV/AIDS and Drugs would be free and passes would be distributed through ward offices of Agartala Municipal Corporation.
Apart from Kumar Sanu and Palak Muchhal, two other singers- Rahul Muchhal and Indian Idol star Sourabhee Debbarma would also join the musical night.
The programme would be held in two parts- first renowned bands from the eight North Eastern states would perform from 3 pm and in the next part, the guest artists would join the programme.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb would inaugurate the second part of the event, where the maximum gathering is expected, Chowdhury told the media.
Dr. Radha Debbarma and Dr. Deep Kumar Debbarma of the Health department and Director of Youth Affairs and Sports department Subikash Debbarma were also present in the press conference.
As per the direction of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the State Health and Family Welfare department in collaboration with the Youth Affairs and Sports department and some other departments is organizing the event.
Dr. Debbarma said, a national-level final Red Ribbon Quiz Competition would be held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on March 24 (11 am onwards). Teams from Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Chandigarh and Nagaland would take part. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb would inaugurate the event.
Meanwhile, the ICA minister along with others on Tuesday visited the venue to check the preparations.
