The communal violence in neighbouring Comilla and other parts of Bangladesh in which several Durga Puja pandaps and Temples were ransacked, brought down, vandalized or desecrated, was evidently preplanned with a hell bent motive.

The incident began when a picture of a Quran in a Puja Mandap was shown in a social media post early in the morning.  Immediately it went viral and a section of Muslims began the rioting. Reports in Bangladesh media stated that most of the hooligans—and thousands of them- seemed to have come from villages.

It does not take much to understand that no Hindu or a puja organizer would be an insane enough to put a Quran in Durga Puja temple which would mean desecration of the Islamic Holy book, and thus, inviting trouble and ruining the festival. The aggressive ground situation of Bangladesh as far as religious sentiments are concerned is well known and it is unbelievable that a Hindu performing his greatest festival will do such a thing.

In fact, a Bangladesh media clearly reported that ‘someone’ put the Quran in a Puja Mandap at Nanuar Dighi in Comilla at wee hours when the guard at the Mandap was asleep. And at 6 am morning its picture and videos went viral in the social media. And immediately angry Muslim mobs attacked temples in Chandpur’s Hajiganj, Chattogram’s Banshkhali, Chapainawabganj’s Shibganj and Cox’s Bazar’s Pekua . The conspiracy also becomes evident as the perpetrators could gather thousands  of people from nearby villages in early morning. While the Quran in Puja mandap was reported in Comilla, at about  230 kilometres distance mob gathered to attack three areas in Chattogram’s Karnaphuli in no time.

In fact Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan himself said “I personally don’t believe [a Hindu person] can gather the courage to do it. Let’s see. Now we are trying to keep everything under control. We will find out the facts”.

Bangladesh authority has already put in place BGB and RAB to tackle the situation, but in the meantime the devastation is already done and the message was sent loud and clear—for the Hindus in Bangladesh.
