Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare will extend more state of the art facilities for Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre. Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, who arrived in Tripura on a two-day trip on Saturday said she was satisfied at the services provided by the hospital.

“The centre is doing well in all profiles from screening of cancer patients, treatment, chemotherapy to post-surgical support. Some modern equipment have already been installed. A good number of patients from other states also visit the regional centre. Keeping this point in mind, the Ministry will take initiative to introduce more facilities for the convenience of the patients,” she said.

Accompanied by MLA Ratan Chakraborty, chairman of the Rogi Kalyan Samity of ABVRCC, and NHM Tripura Mission Director Dr. Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal, she also inaugurated a Central Sterilization Supply Department in the hospital.

Later speaking to the media, she said, “only one OT is available in the hospital at present. There is a demand to set up one more OT along with appointment of Oncologists. The Ministry will take steps to fulfil the demand and introduce more facilities in the regional cancer hospital.”

The Union Minister of State also pointed out that Ayushman Bharat facility was made available in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital following which the patients were receiving the benefits of free treatment. She also said that low-cost generic medicines were also available in the hospital.
