Assam Swachh Bharat Mission delegation visited Tulashikhar in Tripura’s Khowai district to inspect plastic waste management units, innovative sanitation projects, and grassroots cleanliness initiatives, strengthening inter-state cooperation for sustainable development and cleaner rural communities.

A delegation from neighbouring Assam visited the Tulashikhar R.D. Block area in Tripura’s Khowai district on Tuesday to assess various projects implemented under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen). The visit focused on reviewing sanitation infrastructure, waste management initiatives, and community-level cleanliness programmes aimed at promoting sustainable rural development.

The delegation was welcomed by the Block Administration before beginning inspections across several project sites in the region. Officials accompanying the team highlighted key initiatives that have been successfully implemented under the rural sanitation mission.

One of the major attractions during the visit was the inspection of the Plastic Waste Management Unit (PWMU), which has been playing an important role in handling plastic waste in the area. The visiting team also examined innovative sanitation facilities, including toilets constructed entirely from recycled plastic materials at Immanuel SB School. Officials said the initiative demonstrated an eco-friendly approach to sanitation and waste recycling.

The delegation further visited the Paschim Champacherra Anganwadi Centre to observe grassroots-level implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) programmes. Members of the team interacted with local officials and stakeholders to understand how awareness campaigns and sanitation practices are being carried out at the community level.

Earlier in the day, the Assam delegation visited the Office of the District Magistrate and Collector in Khowai, where they held discussions with District Magistrate Rajat Pant regarding sanitation and waste management strategies adopted in the district.

During the interaction, the Assam team shared their experiences and exchanged ideas on improving rural sanitation systems and ensuring long-term environmental sustainability. Officials said the visit served as an important platform for exchanging best practices and strengthening inter-state cooperation for cleaner and healthier communities.
