Assam has set the trend and its role in India’s energy security will go up. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri said this while attending the session of Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit at Guwahati. The theme of the session was “Unlocking Assam’s Energy Potential: Building future-ready oil and Gas Infrastructure, innovation, and investment aligned with Global Energy Transitions”.

Addressing the gathering comprised of industrialists and entrepreneurs, the Union Minister said, that for an economy like India, we must use the existing energy resources available to us. Green hydrogen is the ‘fuel of the future’ and a game changer and if prices of green hydrogen can be reduced, it will change the energy consumption scenario, added the Union Minister.

On biofuel blending, Mr Puri informed that the initial target was 20 per cent blending by 2030 but his government has brought it forward to 2025.

The Union Minister also announced for setting up of a separate designated research section for bio-fuel production from municipal waste at the OCL campus in Assam.
