Assam Assembly Elections: 67 Candidates Withdraw, 722 Remain in Fray; Enforcement Seizes ₹37 Crore Ahead of Polls

In Assam, 67 candidates withdrew their candidature on the final day of withdrawal yesterday for the upcoming Assembly Elections. With this, a total of 722 candidates remain in the fray for the state Legislative Assembly polls. Earlier, following scrutiny, 789 nominations were found valid. 
 
Meanwhile, enforcement agencies have intensified vigil across the state in the run-up to the elections. Between the 15th and 26th of March, seizures worth over 37 crore rupees have been made. The seizures include cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, and other items, including freebies, as part of efforts to ensure free and fair elections.
