For the first time in Lucknow, Central Command of the Indian Army, also known as Surya Command conducted the 76th Army Day Parade today at the 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre. The Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande reviewed the Army Day Parade and presented 14 Gallantry awards for individual acts of bravery and sacrifice. Chief of the Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan and other senior military officers also graced the occasion. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will grace the Shaurya Sandhya programme in the evening. It will showcase various forms of martial arts, combat displays, and fly-past.

On the occasion, Army Chief General Manoj Pande said that the Indian Army has developed critical infrastructure in the border areas to control terror activities.

Six marching contingents, including the Para Brigade, Sikh Light Infantry, Jat Regiment, Garhwal Rifle, Bengal Engineer and Army Air Defence participated in the Army Day parade. The parade also had five regimental brass bands and five regimental pipe bands. In addition to judges, first time the Indian Army has incorporated AI-based software to assess the drill.

The Army Day Parade witnessed a fly-past of microlights and helicopters. A team of motorcycle riders also showcased their skills. Various weapon systems in the Indian Army’s inventory are also displayed on parade ground.
