Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Axis Bank and the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO), has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch Project DEEPAK. This project is designed to extend much-needed support to underprivileged yet academically talented students in Tripura, enabling them to prepare for various competitive entrance examinations.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at the 21 Sector Assam Rifles headquarters in Agartala and was graced by the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday.

Dr. Manik Saha commended the proactive initiative undertaken by Assam Rifles and underscored the critical importance of delivering high-quality education to the region’s youth. He emphasized that education serves as a pivotal indicator of a nation’s and a state’s progress. The Chief Minister pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently advocated for the provision of quality education in the most marginalized regions of the country, and Project DEEPAK aligns with this vision.

Project DEEPAK will provide selected students with coaching to prepare for a range of competitive examinations. The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction with Assam Rifles’ commitment to PM Modi’s vision, particularly highlighting the role of the 21st Sector Assam Rifles headquarters, located in Teliamura, which offers free coaching and accommodation to 30 students to facilitate the delivery of high-quality education.

In October 2023, students will be selected through an examination, with preference given to meritorious individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. These students will benefit from the scheme’s coaching and accommodation provisions, fostering an environment conducive to academic success.

The 21 Sector Assam Rifles will offer accommodation to the selected students in Teliamura, located in the Khowai district of Tripura. Additionally, the project has the potential to generate employment opportunities for marginalized local residents in administrative roles within the center.

Key figures present at the MoU signing ceremony included Major General Vinod Kumar Nambiar, YSM, SM, Brigadier Vikram Guleria, SM**, Dr. R. Shrivastava (CEO, NIEDO), and Abhejit Agarwal, among others. The collaborative effort exemplifies a commitment to empowering the underprivileged youth of Tripura and enhancing access to quality education, aligning with broader national development goals.
