The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India has taken special initiative for creating job opportunities for the youth having technical educational qualifications by enhancing their skills. Keeping this objective forward a two-day workshop on ‘Apprentice Reforms’ has been inaugurated today at Pragna Bhawan, Agartala. The workshop is being organized by Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Tripura in association with the North-eastern states. The workshop was inaugurated by the Special Secretary of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India Atul Kumar Tiwari. Special secretary of Industries & Commerce department Abhishek Chandra was also present in the inaugural programme as special guest.

After inaugurating the workshop, Central Special Secretary Atul Kumar Tiwari said, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India takes such initiative to enhance the skill of youth to help them find suitable jobs. The Ministry works in a coordinated manner for skill development throughout the country. MSDE sector conducts training for youth to help them become skilled enough for jobs. The Ministry is continuously making efforts to enhance and improve their skill. He also said that special emphasis has been given upon recruitment of apprentices in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India (PSU) and other different organizations. The Central Secretary has emphasized upon keeping apprenticeship in every state PSU’s. Besides that, he also emphasized upon registration in this regard. He said, apprentice recruitment is very important for skill development. Apprentices are also recruited by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

           Special Secretary of Industries & Commerce department Abhishek Chandra said, the number of apprentices has not increased comparatively in PSU and other organizations, which is why this process has to be taken ahead. Now the apprentices will find it very convenient due to One Clock Registration process. He called on taking the process of apprenticeship ahead through Apprenticeship registrations. He also emphasized upon quickly registering in PSU sectors.

Other dignitaries present were MSDE Director, Apprenticeship K. S Rao, Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Guwahati Regional Director S. Mathivanan, Directors of Skill Development, Arunachal Pradesh Subu Tabin, and Tripura Director Sanjay Chakraborty respectively, and Principal of National Skill Training, Agartala D. N. Sharma. Representatives of different Northeastern states are also participating in the two-day workshop.
