Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) hosted a special discussion on Thursday to mark International Women’s Day at its Conference Hall. The event was presided over by Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar as the chief guest, alongside several distinguished personalities and local leaders.
In his address, Mayor Majumdar emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and their vital role in societal progress. He stated, “True social progress cannot be achieved without recognizing and establishing women’s rights. Their contributions must always be respected.”
Speakers at the event stressed the need for equal opportunities in education, healthcare, and other key sectors. Women corporators and civil society members raised concerns about gender-based violence, calling for effective strategies to combat it. Mayor Majumdar extended his best wishes to all AMC women corporators on this occasion.
