Akshay Kumar sustains injury performing real stunt in Bhooth Bangla. Actor rejects VFX and AI, emphasizing authenticity. Film’s release postponed to April 16 amid box office success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, raising anticipation among fans.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar sustained an injury while filming an intense action sequence for his upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, reaffirming his reputation as one of the industry’s most dedicated performers who insists on doing his own stunts.

The incident came to light after the film’s makers released a behind-the-scenes (BTS) video showcasing the actor executing a demanding mid-air jump kick. Known for his athleticism and commitment to realism, Akshay was seen performing the sequence without the aid of visual effects. However, during the landing, he lost balance and fell, injuring himself in the process.

Despite the mishap, the actor’s determination highlights his long-standing stance against excessive reliance on VFX and artificial intelligence in action filmmaking. In a recent statement, Akshay expressed that such technologies often dilute the authenticity of cinematic action. He emphasized that performing real stunts allows audiences to genuinely connect with the effort and risk involved, thereby enhancing the overall viewing experience.

Directed by Priyadarshan, the film brings together a strong ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, and Wamiqa Gabbi. The project marks another collaboration between Akshay and Priyadarshan, a duo known for delivering successful comedy films over the years.

Originally scheduled for release on April 10, the film’s premiere has now been pushed to April 16. The decision was officially announced by co-producer Ektaa Kapoor via social media. According to her statement, the change was made following discussions with distributors and exhibitors, taking into account the strong box office performance of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh.

In her announcement, Ektaa Kapoor highlighted that the shift would allow both films to perform optimally without competing directly for audience attention. She added that the Bhooth Bangla team is eager to welcome viewers to cinemas starting from the first show at 9 PM on April 16.

The film is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with Cape of Good Films. It is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor.
